Group Externship Program in Conservation Medicine & One Health at the Smithsonian Bocas del Toro Station, Panama

  • University Pre-Vet Club trips, Vet School Clubs, or other groups for 4-10 people (larger groups please inquire). Pre-vets, new graduates, gap-year and vet students are eligible.

  • Exclusive session reserved for your group (dates and exclusivity by pre-arrangement).

  • Course held at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute Bocas del Toro, Field Station titled “Conservation Medicine & One Health”. Wildlife Veterinary Services & One Health outreaches to indigenous island communities throughout the Archipelago of Bocas Del Toro.

  • Summer: Choose a 2-week core session, or 4-week (2-week core session + special project or field trip), or your uniquely designed group trip. Spring Break: please provide your specific dates for more info.

  • Ability to customize itinerary/course content according to your groups’ interest, including additional field trips or trip add-ons such as:

    • Isla Escudo de Veraguas, Panama: coveted Island, and only home, of the endangered Pygmy Sloth boating and camping trip. Most beautiful Island in the archipelago! (season specific)

    • Boquete, Panama: Volcan Baru National Park Cloud Forest & Wildlife refuge, Tree Trek hanging bridges, Chiriqui Viejo River adrenaline white water rafting trip, Boutique coffee country!

    • Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica: La Ceiba Primary forest (Gandoca-Manzanillo National Refuge), Jaguar Rescue Center, Old Harbor Artisanal Arts & Crafts Market, Sloth Sanctuary of Costa Rica, Ara Manzanillo Endangered Great Green Macaw reintroduction program.
